I did a chassi dyno about 3yrs ago not long before I pulled out my 17yr plus motor to give it some up grades.I'm not sure what i did with that paper work But it was some where around 320 @ the wheels

The torque wasn't that far off the HP #s I want to say somewhere around 58-6200 It may?? have been a little higher/lowwer. I'll try looking for the dyno sheet.The cams band was 38-7200 So like i said It's been a few yrs So Im not 100% sure on all the #s

I just flowed my stock 302 head (983 casting)
In. flowed 175 @ .500 lift.
Ex. flowed 115 @ .400 lift.
They didn't flow any better even when I lifted the valves to .750.
TERRIBLE FLOW!!!!
Looks like I have a lot of port work to do.

I should have my 321 inch on the dyno about February. I do all the dyno testing for a local
performance machine shop so I plan to do a lot of intake and exhaust testing/tuning. Besides It's free for me.

I had my 292 (.60 over) dyno'd when we picked it up from Mike Kirby at Sissell's Automotive. We haven't finished the installation in the car (truck - 1950) but hope to have in ready to roll for this summer. It has been over a year since we had it run on the dyno so I don't remember the exact numbers and at the moment am too lazy to go dig out the paperwork. The engine has one of Mike's 12 port aluminum heads, 12 to 1 compression and Hilborn mechanical fuel injection. On race gas we got around 465hp (about 6800rpm, I think) and a little over 400 ft/lbs of torque. We did better on alcohol but Mike didn't have time to really play with it. He felt with enough time (and good air) he should be able to get 475 on gas and just over 500 on alcohol. The truck will be used for nostalgia drags with a good old fashioned 4 speed (Jerico, so it will be up to the abuse). It should be fun!

good to hear from you south dakota six. i do not plan on dynoing mine. for 2 reasons. there are no chassis dynos close by 200 miles maybe and extra cost. presently mine is around 4-450 hp and even more torque. tom

Hank, It's a 4.125 x 4 (321cid) with 7.850" aluminum rods with 0.912 (Ford) wrist pins. I'm going to have a set of JE pistons made as soon as I get the #983 head modified and make a mold of the combustion chamber. I'm trying to keep as much weight out of the rod/pin/piston assembly as possible. I've filled the block with Hard Blok up to the bottom of the water pump hole so the bore won't move around. I'm building a new rocker arm/shaft assembly with aluminun roller rockers with a 1.8:1 ratio. The assembly will resemble the Jessel set-up. I have to call Mike Kirby and pick his brain about the cylinder head mods to see how much flow I can get out of this ugly head. I've been doing some research on intake and exhaust systems for this head. From my dyno experience, on several different engines, there is LOTS of power available in these systems
if their tuned correctly. The engine is going in a HAMB HA/GR dragster. Should be fun.

You guys are making some serious HP!!!
My "warmed" over 292 went 277 Hp and 288 torque at approx. 4200 rpms on a chassis dyno 2 years ago.

The specs on my street cruiser are:
1970 292, head and block both surfaced.
.040 over, cast pistons, 270 Wolverine cam with HD springs, CompCams 1.75 rockers, crank went .010, ported, polished, and matched intake and exhaust ports, Stovebolt's big cast headers that were port matched and jet coated, Pertronics ignition, water heated Offy 3x1 intake with 3-HW carbs, 49-primaries and-54 secondaries, balanced flywheel, center force clutch, 1982 T-5 from Z28, B&M Ripper shifter, aluminum drive shaft, rebuilt 1968 8.2 10-bolt Nova rear with 3:55 Richmond gears and a posi unit. 31" tall tires on 8.5" rims, 2.5" exhaust system with Chambered mufflers and of course, the signature 6"x12" exhaust tips.

It runs pretty good on the cheapest grade of fuel. I run it fairly rich so it does not detonate. 12-14 MPG in town and almost 18 MPG on the road. The car weighs in at exactly 3,000 lbs minus the driver.

It has fantastic low end torque and can practically stay with most any street cars for 100 feet. On the freeway, it has absolutely no problem passing on a hill loaded and with 2 people in it. A great all around engine/tranny combo for a cruiser.

Hank, I'm not sure what the HP & TQ will be. I've only talked to one person that had his 302 on the dyno and he made 295 HP and 355 Lbs of torque. It was a low compression, stock head, split exhaust combo. If I can make a little over 1 HP/inch on racing gas I'll be pretty happy. If I could run a 12 port head in the HA/GR class I'm sure I could make some serious power. 350HP and 400 lb/ft would tickle me to death. I'm pretty sure it will do a number on the HA/GR dragsters running flatheads and Chevy inlines. Then again, I may get my butt kicked real bad. Time will tell.

Yes about 145 hp and yes @ the rear wheel (rolling road dyno). - not really impressive I know -

I got the new 261 in the 41 now and hardly can´t wait to dyno her. I´m looking forward to at least 200 hp.

hank, i do plan on tacking it down a track, but i have to wait until next year as jack frost has his grip on us here. tracks don't open until april. on the 230-250, i have a number of chevelles i could put it in. even a couple of wagons and another elco. i was thinking something with a much higher redline. tom

hank, actually traction so far has not been the issue. coming off the line, when not power braking, it spins somewhat, but by the time second gear comes around. that is the time the monster is awake and is full steam ahead. i spin more in second. if i even try to power brake, traction is none existant. remember when starting off the line, the motor is n/a and not under boost. this means only 200-225hp? no problems with tires at that hp level. at 10-15 lb boost traction is a problem. to overcome. 1. a posi 2. relocate upper control arms with bolt on brackets 3. poly bushings. that is a start. tom

I see what you are saying.
I am just trying to compare it to my Syclone truck when I pulled the front driveshaft out.

If my rear brakes can hold,,, I can boost @ 2-18 psi right off the start.
That is the trick you can do to get boost off the line & really launch hard.
It is much easier to boost an auto trans compared to a manual trans car.

My (stock) torque converter stalls to 2100 RPM ,no matter what boost I go to.
It would be a lot easier to launch if I had a higher stall converter of 2400-2600 RPM

With the front driveshaft in,,, I normally run 1.78-1.84 seconds 0-60'on street tires @ a track altitude of 3200 ft.
The trans it has is a 700R4 w/a lock-up converter.

My Hudson has a flathead six. a few years ago I had it on a chassis dyno, and we made a couple of high gear runs. It made 186hp at 4200rpm and max tq was 275 at 2700rpm. The torque was over 225 from 1800 to 4600... thats the range we did the pulls in. If I ever get the head gasket to seal properly, I'll give it another shot.

New rules state any car regardless of ET with Nitrous or non-stock turbo/supercharger needs a single layer fire jacket. Your Mileage May Vary but our local track is enforcing it.
