Guys...
Now I´m starting to assemble my 250Cid. Turbocharged 12 Port engine. I will use 6" Forged Aluminum Rods (BME), and I would like to use some real good performance bearings.
What do you guys recommend me??
Clevite Bearings?? King Bearings? What Model/PN#??
I need Stock Main/Rod Bearings.
Thanks!!

Kike Kirby uses aluminum rods a lot. Maybe he just drills a hole for the bearing pin? Not sure.

Yes, bearing width is the same on the 6 and v8 bearing even though the 6 cyl rod is slightly wider

So, the bearing is too narrow? More narrow than the 6 bearing? If it is,,you will be losing oil pressure & splashing extra oil everywhere.
So,,, in other words,,, that is not the correct bearing.

MBHD, not, they are correct The v8 small journal engines (265-283 early 327) and the 6cyl rod bearing for the 194-250 series ARE the same dimension. All bearing manufactures list the same replacement bearing for both. We have been using the Clevite CB743HD in our aluminum rod engines for many years with great success. Yes you could easily drill a stock bearing to use with an aluminum rod, but there are, for racing engines, reasons to at least look at bearings that are directly made to use in that environment

Question ,,,is the 265-283 early 327 rods bearings the same width as the six cylinder bearings? Sure, they are the same dimension of 2" & yes they will work.
Or,,, are they a little more narrow???

The bearings are the same, width and journal dimension, The King bearing link that is poster by MBHD also confirms these specs. What may cause some confussion is there is typically no high performance bearing listing for the inline 6 engines.

Federal-Mogul shows the same part #2555cp for a rod bearing pair for 292 and 181, 267, , 305, 307,'68 327,350 &400. Likewise the194, 230,& 250 use # 2020cp as do the 122, 140, 153, 265,283 &'63-'67 327.
