But the amp guage stays stock

Good luck. \:\)

Be sure the amp meter is compatible with the alt. or gen. you use.

Jumping in on your question 4door52: Would I need a step down for the stock heater blower motor in my '50 3100? This may have been answered here before, but I can't find it.

Thanks Walt,
I am rewiring completely as the original wires are very frayed even though all the systems work except for one parking lamp. A local starter rebuild shop may be able to help me on the heater motor.I've already disconnected and removed everything from under the dashboard so the rest should be easy.LOL \:\)

\:D Wiring it myself? Good one Walt.I'm new to this stuff so it's a kit from American Auto Wire,the Factory Fit people. I am very fortunate to live about 15 minutes by highway from their plant, so I just drove over, told them what I was doing, plopped down some $$ and wa-la, a kit for my 3100. And I didn't have to buy their expensive overloaded kit either because I'm not planning on adding a bunch of modern stuff. They're were very helpful and have a great tech group to rely on so I think I'll be ok on this project. And I have noted your advice too. Thanks.

Does anybody have a "kit" for 12 volt conversion? I'm going to be picking up a '49 4 door myself here soon and would like to upgrade. It would just make life easier if a kit was supplied with all the necessary bulbs, switches, drop downs, etc.

Thx.
Butch

Dear Butch;

It will be cheaper for you to buy, just what's needed.

Patrick's catalog has the list.

You can call me for help as I have done dozens over the years.

Good luck. \:\)
