Hey Guys, I need a vacuum advance for my 53 chevy belair with automatic. What is my best price? Auto stores like Napa, Auto Zone, and Advance Auto don't carry this. I bought the distributor(6volt) from Advance Auto for $38.00 but it did not have the vacuum advance with it. Obsolete carries the vacuum advance for 36.00. Chevies of the 40's is 41.00 and of course they have one for 85.00 whatever that is. What's wrong with $10.00 bucks for one! Thanks, Tim PS I do have vacuum going to the advance so it may have a worn diaphragm.

Dear Tim;

Try an ad in our classifieds. Perhaps some one here has a good used for that price.

Good luck. \:\)

I have a large inventory of NOS ignition with a number of Vacuum Chambers included. After seeing your post, I tried to get a part number from the catalogs I have. If you could get a part number or a picture of the unit, I might be able to help you out.

Thanks John and Larry, I looked at the classifieds but didn't find any leads. I looked around on the web without success so I went back to Obsolete and "bit the bullet" and bought their vacuum advance. At least I know it is made for my car and it is new so the rubber inside is new.I also bought the condenser for $8.35 as mine is original and I wasn't sure of its condition plus it was there "so what the heck".
John, this is the same man who found the leak in my intake manifold thus fixing the transmission locking onto the engine problem. So I am happy to report that he is continuing to help to get my old chevy back up in good running condition. My wife who has always been afraid to ride in it for fear of it breaking down somewhere even rode with me in it to a car show. Will wonders never cease! Thanks again guys! Tim
