I have a jeep, and I want nice , but no shine(hate to shine/dry a jjep, I want to hose it and sponge wash it, but no dealing with shine/wax, it's ajeep, not a BBdoll car)...so I want to paint it, either army green, army dark brown, or Navy air force bluish/grayish flat color.
Which is the best kind of flat paint I can get. Is it remain good for a while? or will it chackboard in no time?

I have heard there is something called a flatner that you can add to any paint and the paint will be flat instead of shiny. A few years ago there was a trend with some hot rodders to use this method, it was in some magazine articles. Check with your local automotive paint store, they shouild be able to tell you more

You can use a 10 percent "flattner" in normal auto paint or check out John Deere Blitz paint that is popular on rat rods. Here's a discussion on it: http://hotrodders.com/t31993-15-1.html

Thanks guys, I'll be checking this flateners and BB Blitz paint by John Deer.
I think the bluish/greyish Navy air force color would look excelent and be sturdy for my jeep.
BTW, that Ford truck( I think it is a Ford, excuse me if not, not an expert) looks excelent, nice flat paint.

I too am a fan of the flat look especially on classics it shows the lines off better in my opinion.and you dont have to worry about the sun glaring off it either.

On my "Hot Tub" I used industrial black enamal and flattener. It cost about half of what automotive enamel costs and is holding up great.

Thats what I like too, I dont like shiny Chrome either and my truck (when I can afford it) will sport a DULL finish, But it will be awhile before being able to do any bodywork not having a garage.

I hear that the John Deere flat black and all works very well. I don't know much about it but that is what I may use on this truck that I am thinking about buying. Do you put a clear over that John Deere color or what? I don't wan't it to have that chaulk like effect or nothing so to clear it without a shine would be great!

You can use ppg industrial enamel paint and instead of using reducer use lacquer thinner to reduce and it will give you a flat finish.Use the pro form universal hardener. Have painted some of our rental equipment like this and it has stood up pretty good.
