Judy & I went to see "Cars" yesterday - fun movie, and great animation but that's what Pixar does.
I'm sure a lot of liberties were taken, but it's obvious that someone on the production team knew something about cars and racing, NASCAR in particular. Those of us who remember Richard Petty's mid-air pirouette will recognize it near the end of the movie.
I really began to appreciate their efforts when one of the primary car-acters, a Hudson Hornet, fired up about half-way through the movie: it actually sounded like a six, a reasonably hot one. That required some thoughtful attention to detail on someone's part.

My wife took our grandchildren to see it and then insisted that I come with her to see it a couple days later. It has supplanted "American Graffiti" as my all-time favorite car movie. I highly recommend it. There are many inside jokes and references to the car culture. Check it out.

Looks like this joins the 'must see' list for me...
Unfortunately, I've yet to see World's Fastest Indian, so I've got to set my priorities somehow.
Amazing how many people I know talk about this movie and finish up saying, "It's about me!" One even claimed he took two days to recover after sweating his way through it!
An absolute must for anyone who plays with cars or bikes.

The "World's Fastest Indian" is a very entertaining movie although I suspect in true movie tradition the story was rewritten for some of the scenes.But,Burt Munro was a real character
apparently so maybe it's all true.LOL The best on the DVD is an added video interview with Burt Munro filmed some years ago with actual footage of him astride the Indian racing and scenes of him working in his shop.His comments are great stuff.

Gentlemen; The 'trailers' are on www.imdb.com "Prety cool" but looks/sounds like a film about motorcycle racing. Check them out.

Both are excellent movies...
The fastest indian goes to the true heart of hot rodding - ingenuity and dedication to make some thing better...

I dont know exactly who, but some guys off of the HAMB were used in making the "cars" movie. If you havent had a chance check out www.jalopyjournal.com it would have more insight as too who helped and what they did for the movie. Be careful, and read the direction before you make a post. Some of those guys seem to be a little short fused!!!

i'm not a big movie fan and after getting "kicked off" a bike three times several years ago (you won't catch me on one again)i still really enjoyed the indian movie. and the documentery was just as good. i told my wife about 1/3 of the lines from the movie come straight from it. most movies i could walk out 10 min. before it's over without a thought, but not this one. i watched it twice. even if you aren't into bikes- i'm not, i don't see how you couldn't enjoy it.

I missed seeing the "World's Fastest Indian" when it came out in the theaters. I heard from the gearheads who saw it, it was great! It's not just for bikers, it's a movie for all who believe in the Motorsport Field that you can build it, run it, and enjoy it on your own budget. Don't worry about what other people say, just do it! My wife bought the DVD off Amazon for $12.99 and I've watched it 3 times already. You see something different every time you watch it! I recommend it!
PS- I've sold my home in Wisconsin and we are ready to put a bid on another home here just north of Cincinnati in the country. Yes, it has an 800+sq ft detached garage with heat, ac, and plumbed with a huge verticle air compressor! The current owner has a collector car. Funny how birds of a feather find each other! I'll keep y'all posted if it happens. Can't wait to get my Coupe down here!

Well; it finally came to (CARS) DirecTV.  These people spent a lot of time on this one, as mentioned. I don't know if it beats American G. though?? A great film, good for all the family and us "car buffs" too. Watch the credits all the way through. If anyone has a teenager in the house or knows someone that does; My friends film PURGATORY HOUSE (written by a 14 yr old girl)) is on sale in DVD format. This is a "must see" for those struggling with adolescense. It's an (anti suicide/drug) message rated (R) and one 'teens' can/will relate too.  www.purgatoryhouse.com Also; The film titled; WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR, is still haveing trouble finding a 'distribution' deal' and this isn't a surprise.
