Just curious if anyone here would like to see an Ebay forum?
Just so people can post stuff here that they see on Ebay that some inliners might be interested in.
Or if someone wants to post an item on Ebay & give the inliners a heads up here first.

I think this would be a better idea than posting an item for sale in our other forums.

I see most forums have an Ebay forum or stuff for sale forum.
Much better than the classified section.
Thanks

I think this is a great idea, MBHD.

How about a inliners transport/relay forum too so we can work out easier shipping? any interest there?

Sounds like an excellent idea, especially the relay / shipping idea. I wouldn't likely benefit from or be able to help with any of the relay, but I can definetly appreciate wanting to save on shipping, living in Alaska as I do.

I drive a truck from either Texas, California or Washington every 2 weeks or so to Anchorage or Fairbanks, year round. I do like the idea of the EBay forum, more eyes to see the sometimes bargains.

I've posted several eBay links and have felt uncomfortable doing it, a forum for these links would be nice. Craigslist links would be ok too, with the stipulation that the location be in the title.

Jalopy45, yes I'm sure you OTR guys make lotsa runs here (I know a few owner operators myself). I just meant it was unlikely that I would be able to help anyone myself as I am not planning to make that road trip any time soon. I appreciate the point on bringing stuff up though. I ususally seem to need something shipped that's roughly the size of a car (or a complete engine) and that's kinda hard to stuff in the box under the sleeper. \:\(

Is there still interest in a seperate EBay forum??? It seems to have faded away.

Yea, I guess. It would be cool if you guys wouldn't go to eBay so I could get some deals. Maybe we could take turns. Me first!

Would you guys see a problem if?? we made the Ebay
& transport made it as one? Like lets say
Transport/Ebay Or Ebay Transport. The reason I say
Lets combine them is I don't think the trasnport
forum would be used as much as the Ebay itself
would be.

I don't see a problem with it. A person could lead the post of with transport such as "Transport-Texas to Washington" then give the details? I usually have some room driving a truck , my route is from California to Alaska to Texas and back to California. In Nexussians home town now and it's COLD.

Maybe we should have a section called "Everything Else".

strummin, "everything else" is pretty wide open! Can we hnl that? The new fuel thing is turning pretty political. My fault,Sorry. See my last post there.( put funny little face here) Maybe we need a "Vent Forum".

Yes but I suggested that as a broad name to cover "everything".
The other discussion: Political? Not really. As far as I can tell we're all being good. \:D

i see no need for a seperate forum. as it is there are fewer than 10 posts on any given day with all the forums.

does it cost real money to get it done? tom

So if you are talking about your truck, how to tune your Holley 950 system,,,then someone post an item for sale on Ebay in your topic ,that is OK?
I don't think so.

I'ts not a bad idea, but I have to wonder if it is justified, as it will be more work for the moderators (somebody has to ride herd on it to keep it up and running). I have no time to moderate it, so I have a hard time asking someone else to do so.

I moderate three Yahoo groups along with my own. I'd be happy to step up and moderate here if the need arose.

The eBay posts are just heads up notices and usually don't need replys, unless its like the Hornig head thing. Why can't we just agree to put them in one place on new threads? I'd prefer it if you'd just leave eBay for me but it's clear you won't.

I have read the posts and checked out other sites with eBay forums, and it is my opinion that it is not worth opening another forum specifically for this purpose.

Anybody can search eBay for items they want, and would probably not advertise the fact if they were bidding on an auction. If you have something to sell, you can put a short-term notice in our classified section pointing to your auction. An exceptionally rare or interesting part (such as a Wayne head or Harper manifold) could, and has been, a topic of discussion without being consigned to a special forum.

Also, eBay is a multimillion dollar corporation, and it is not the mission of the Inliners International to advertise for them. If you feel the need to participate in such a forum, they have one over on stovebolt.com.

Tim, I hope you are not implying that all EBay postings should cease. The ones I post are always related to Inliner interest and certainly not something I'm trying to sell. That I'll leave for Inliner Classifieds.

Exactly. I remembered someone put up a post looking for a split manifold. I ran across one on Ebay and I shared it with the members. That's all.

Drew, I answered the question about a separate eBay forum. In the time since I have taken over this (mostly thankless) job as webmaster I don't recall anyone being called to task about posting eBay references, and it is not my way to 'imply' things. I buy and sell things on eBay myself, so don't get the notion that I am against it, it's just not the purpose of this site. Let's just leave things in this matter the way they are, keep on helping other Inliners, and drop this subject.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up for me. And your job is not "thankless" although I'm sure some days you've felt you have had enough critizism to last quite awhile. As a volunteer organization every Inliner's contribution is greatly appreciated. \:\)

i would guess that it is because this is a private organization. why would we want it flooded with polls anyway?

anybody is allowed to post parts that are seen on ebay. it is not disallowed. tim said that.

i would like to see more people partake in all the forums. there are many that do not or will not comment for many reasons. tom

Polls are very handy. They can be used as tools to indicate what people like/dislike about an organization and who actually comes here. Most folks won't know or care that this place exists. I'd say the people who do come here won't find this information anywhere else. They are looking for answers about how to repair, modify, get more power and/or just keep them running. The mere fact that a few people want another section might mean that it's time to consider a change. I'm not saying that it has to be done but again, my point is that polls will tell you what the people want.

Sorry guys But after going back through the Forums
In regaurds to Ebay Topics or postings. I feel i would have to agree with Tim.

My reason is there was never Much to sometimes No
replys at all to a Ebay posting. So for what
little does come up now and then can Just be put
into what ever forum topic it seems to best fit.

But I also have to add my 2cents in on this
comment (mostly thankless job) In all the Years
I have been on this Board I have seen some Thank
Yous. But in most cases It is far and in between,
From BB members as well as Paid members.BUT from the UPPER Ranks I don't think I Ever seen a 1.
But being in Tim's spot as the New Guy who seemed
to have stepped in at the time Of what seemed to be a BAD Ball of wax and didn't even have time
to get to know any of US!! Let alone US to know him He right off got Labled as a bad guy to many,
But He only had/can to do, What the Upper ranks told/tell him to do. So as I see it He's not doing a bad job of it. And OUR!! site is still up and running. And keeping the Spammers Off it as well.
So in ending my 2cent babble. I say
Thank You Tim. and To All you Guys for the help and in-put you give to others Paid Or non Paid
members.

I really like this place where we can exchange things that relate to our special interest! I don't want to cause any changes that will burn out or p--s off anyone who is making it work. Thank you to everyone who causes this board to be here. It's workin' fine for me! Tim is right we all search eBay. I'm amazed how much I miss and check out what Martin and others post,Thanks. Hows that for warm and fuzzy?
