i have a 1967 mustang and i found a ford rear end on craigslist im thinking about buying
its a rear off a 1997 expedition with 3.7 gears, posi, and disk brakes. does anyone know if i would run into problems fitting this up to my car as far as width and my suspension? i know that the ford expedition used coil springs, and im planning on running leafs,
i emailed the guy selling it for the width but with craigslist id like to hear it from someone else as well before i make the drive to go check it out
any advice would be great thanks

I'd bet the farm that an Exdedition rear is too wide.

The 80’s Lincoln Versai (sp) 9 inch will fit in their. It has disc brakes to boot. They pop up on Craig’s list.

The '80 Bronco rear in my '36 sprinter is pretty narrow. Sorry don't have the width handy. I would stay away from any of the older Ford disc setups as they are expensive to rebuild and some parts are hard to find. Besides aftermarket disc kits are rather inexpensive are lighter, and look better. Good luck.

the 95 - 98 explorers have 8.8's with factory posi and disk brakes, can be found with 3.73 gears, and are about 59 inches end to end.(measured my buddys '98)
now its off to the pick 'n pull....

Would that be 59" from wheel mounting surface (WMS) to WMS? If I could, may I get you to measure the leaf spring mounts (center to center) too. Those have a standard 5 X 4.5" bolt pattern don't they? Are they ALL posi?

yeah its about 59 from wms to wms, theyre not all posi, u have to jack up the car and check but it was an option that came on a lot of them,
i havent been able to find one yet (still searching the junk yards)
and ive never measured the leaf spring mounts so i couldnt tell you, but i figure ill jst cut them off and weld them back on where ever they need to go. its 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern but if you find one id measure it anyways

Thats another thing to add to my "Wrecking Yard Wish List". Sounds as if it would be just what I need for my 51 Fleetline. Thanks!
