do 250 chevy's have freeze plugs in the rear of engine? My clutch went out and I am going to do a conversion to automatic. So I will be looking at rear of engine thought it be goood to replace freez plugs. However I only found side freeze plugs at autozone.com.

well, Beater, All I can tell you is my 68 250 has one in the bellhousing! What great engineer fixed it so you have to pull the tranny to replace a freeze plug should be shot. tomake matters worse, Its the only one to leak after 25 years. I'm not sure but aren't they all the size? good luck Herb

Some times you have to go to a "real" parts house to find what you need.

Dang, I wish they would put an edit feature on this board. anyhow click on page 2 and half way down it shows what you are looking for. It takes a bit of practice to search for some parts on the NAPA site but it is pretty complete in coverage. Autozone is great for the run in and grab it off the shelf stuff but iffy on a lot of hard parts.

( Yes there is a edit on this.I did this Just to show you ,You can Edit Your OWN Post.Click on the
pencil & Paper at the top of this topic and You should be able to remove what I have just add to your topic TRY it for a TEST.)(Thank You)

Hi there Truck guy's. Here is my plan for the hidden plug on my 250. At the bell housing area I'll get the pipe tap for a allen pipe plug and thread it in that hole. May end up doing all of them. Just use teflon pipe dope so they will not rust together. A little more expensive than just a steel/brass plug but I don't want to drop a tranny just to replace one. \:\)
