Are here any sure tell signs of a vehicle being converted from a 6v to a 12v? Mine still has the original generator and wiring but running off a normal 12v battery.

A 12v battery is a good start. Check the light bulbs to see what voltage they are. Can you find any info on the gen?

Also see if there is a voltage reducer(s) in the system for your gas gauge and/or heater.

The generator should have an oval shaped tag on it that will tell you if it is 6 or 12 volts.
