I have a Chevy 250 and TH350. Can I use either a 153 or 168 tooth flexplate and appropriate starter?

Make sure your block has the cross bolt pattern for the 168 tooth starter.
The 153 tooth starter, the bolt pattern is inline, not diangled,, ,make sense?

Or you can drill it also, for the diangled 168 tooth starter.
But to answer your question, the 153 or 168 tooth flexplates will both fit.

Thanks, the block is drill straight across. I have an extra 168 tooth I was going to use. I think I'll try to use one of the dual pattern high torqe starters.

Yes the dual pattern ones will work,I was thinking that you were talking about stock components.

W/the 168 tooth flexplate it will be easyier on the starter to turn the engine, but it will turn the engine slower & vise versa for the 153 tooth flexplate.

Personally, I like to have a smaller flexplate, better ground clearance, revs quicker, plus it cranks the engine over faster on start-up.

Does the 153 tooth flex plate bolt up to a 350/400 torque converter OK? I thought that the smaller flexplate was for a Powerglide and the torque converter bolts wouldn't line up. I had to drill my '69 block with the inline holes for this reason.

I looked online, I see now that they do sell them with both bolt patterns!
