I run mine with out the kick down. It won't hurt a thing as far as the trans goes.
If you really want a kick down, head off to the salvage yard and find any in-line with the bracket that bolts to the intake. Yours may all ready have it, its hard to tell in the picture. The lever part you have, its the black three legged piece where the throttle cable is hooked to. The lower "leg" is where the kick down hooks to. You can get the cables at any parts store or transmission shop. Not much to installing or adjusting. Joe

Just a side note, the air filter is way to small for kind of performance, try stacking two elements under the lid.

I agree. Some of the 80s model Fords you must have the kickdown cable on those AOD Transmissions or it will mess them up.
As far as older GM Transmissions there were many styles of kickdown cables. So I think you can be creative as long as you mind safety issues.
I would recommend looking at several different shop manuals to see the locations of the linkage.
Also you might stop by a Transmission Shop and see if they have advice or even a spare linkage.

The pic was mine, not the original poster's. I have a 400 tranny and it uses a bracket attached to the gas pedal to actuate it electronically. (Not that I have it hooked up either \:D ) I just pull the lever down into second gear myself, but you are right that it would attach to the bottom part of the swivel in my pic for a TH350, my bracket doesn't have the hole for the cable attachment though. Might be a self-fabrication item there if you don't have any good salvage places around you.

The 400 is great. The Transmission Oil Pressure is higher and thats why they work better. They were designed for 1 Ton trucks and big GM cars with big block engines.
My first car was a 66 Bel Air with 250-6 and a Powerglide. It got great gas milage but with only two forward gears the motor had limited RPM range.

I didn't know about the fluid pressure, interesting. People who don't know better like to laugh saying that "little" 6 cylinder can't push that "big" 400 tranny. I just remind them of the lower first gear (or higher depending on how you look at it) that usually lets them know the deal.
