Would appreciate info on the following info: 1. How much does it weigh? 2. Is there any speed equipment available for 'em, anymore? 3. Anyone have any recommendations for building a good, dependable street rod engine?
A friend wants me to help him build one and install an S-10 5-speed behind it, then put it in a '33 Plymouth. Thanx!

Vintigue speed parts are available from Ebay, new parts such as alloy heads are available from Edgy. I believe a 230 weighs about 600 pounds with the clutch and bell housing. You might pay a visit to www.p15-d24.com and post your query over there.

Dodge made a factory high compression head and a 2 barrel intake manifold for the little l-head in 1957 for a car called the Westerner.I have a friend with a wrecking yard in northern California that has the intake manifold and maybe the head. Brian's Salvage--Vallejo,Calif.-707-642-5408 and talk to Brian. This guy owns and has driven 2 1940 Dodge trucks since the late 1950s.He also has many other 1939 thru 1947 Dodge and Plymouth trucks, but the first 2 have been almost on a daily basis. I did a 230 a couple of years ago. I found a book very helpful. I knew nothing about the little flat head. Dodge Pickups (History and Restoration Guide 1918-1971). I got mine from Motorbooks. They have many good hints and helps in it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your replies! I'll check the info out immediately. Was gone for a week, but happy to see someone took the time to answer me. This is a new field for me, as up to now it's been mostly Chevy and Ford inline engines for me.

Dennis- click the like in my signature and have a look at my 230. The head is from Earl Edgerton of Edgy Cams, Edmunds dual water heated intake, 3/4 cam, holley webber 5200 carbs, Kansas Kustoms split exhaust manifold. Don Coatney over on the P15-D24 forum has done the tranny swap, he'd share the info for you. Thanks, Pete. I can almost hear that sucker running through a sweet set of duals and it gives me cold chills. What a pretty engine! I'm gonna check out your site...........
Just went to a car show and there wasn't one single inline engine there......there's some sick folks in this world, you know it?
