I have what I believe to be about a 1970, 250 motor that I am trying to put into my 1960 Biscayne... I can not get the water pump pulley and harmonic balancer to line up... How can I check to see if I have a long or shrot water Pump? I bought it new, and the clerk never said anything about it... Thank you for your help... Lee Sorrell III

Dear Mr. Sorrell;
Here's how to tell "where you are" with pulleys.
Install the alternator & see if it matches the water pump.
If it does, the pump is okay & you work on the crank pulley. If it matches the crank pulley, work on the pump.
Good luck, John M....
