where to find the GM stock two-barrel intake, and the GM two-barrel throttle body fuel injection for truck application, which Leo mentioned in his book.

The two-barrel manifold shown in Leo's book was never put into production. The 292 was offered some years with a two-barrel carburetor but it had the integrated intake manifold and cylinder head.

The only GM two-barrel manifolds for the Chevrolet 250 similar to the picture in Leo's book were made in Brazil till 1992 for the OEM Weber DFV446 and Solex H34 carburetors. Note that the axis of these Brazilian manifolds' two-barrels are angled ninety degrees to the engine.

The American Chevrolet 250/292 series inlines were not supplied with throttle body fuel injection. The Brazilian 250 was offered with port fuel injection from 1995 to 1998.

Some have fitted GM throttle body fuel injection systems from other vehicles, such as the Chevrolet Astro Minivan 4.3L V6. Also, though not inexpensive, the Holley Commander 950 Throttle Body Fuel Injection Systems can be installed, either the Holley 950-19S or 950-20S.

From what I've read the Holly/Weber is not big enough for the 292, unless you use more than one.

edit:

If you want to put a progressive 2bbl on your engine. Look for a Quadrajet 2 from a later six with the integral head (84-89?). Then adapt that to your stock manifold, or buy an Offy 4bbl manifold. You will need an adapter for the Offy. The bolt pattern is not the same as Holly/Weber.

Some of the Holley Commander 950 Throttle Body Fuel Injection Systems are two-barrel throttle bodies.

Two-Barrel Throttle Bodies:
Holley 950-19S 400 cfm / 100 to 250 hp
Holley 950-20S 670 cfm / 125 to 275 hp

For more than about 220 hp you may want to consider the 4 barrel throttle bodies.

Four-Barrel Throttle bodies:
Holley 950-23S 650 cfm / 150 to 325 hp
Holley 950-22S 700 cfm / 250 to 400 hp

Douglas has some pics.
Of course it worked. I think they had 180 HP ?

They even put them in a 1997 Chevy truck.

Wasn't the Brazillian port injection on the Brazillian head with 6 intake ports?

The 1995 to 1998 Brazilian 4.1L or 250 was supplied from the factory with 6 intake port heads and port fuel injection. It was installed in the Opel Omega (different transmission bolt pattern) and the Chevrolet Silverado truck (standard transmission bolt pattern). It also had 6" connecting rods and pistons with a shorter compression height (around 1.355")

The 1992 and earlier engines in the Chevrolet Opala used the same siamesed intake ports (3) as the US engines. They had the two-barrel intake manifolds from the factory, for either the Weber DFV 446 or the Solex H34.

A gentlemen in the US installed a port injection system on a US siamesed port engine. He removed it then installed a throttle body injection system. The throttle body system ran better with the siamesed ports due to the uneven timing flow in two of the three ports. He posts on one of the truck web sites.

For some discussion on fuel injection see posts #3 & #8 (labeled in top right hand corner of each post) in the following thread by GREG64. The whole thread is a good read on Chevrolet inline 6's:
