Anyone know of anyone useing a Falconer l6?just saw a picture of one, looks like a lot of money.

No, but when I win the lottery I'm doing a Falconer head conversion on a 292. 5600.00 for head with rockers,studs, gaskets, valve cover. That's before all the block work and fabrication. Exclusivity is rather exclusive.

Very nice (and VERY expensive) stuff! The L6 appears to run about $45K. One of his V12 heads (the passenger side?) would be an interesting possibility since the V12 has the same 4.40" bore center as the 230/250/292. Of course the head bolt pattern would be different (5 vs 4) as would the water passages - all the things Leo worked through with his composit head. Then there's the valve train geometry that probably would cause problems with the push rods because I think I remember reading that the valves were canted like the BBC. And then there's the question of a custom cam (CNC-Dude?) because of the different intake/exhaust port sequences. Finally, there's the price (which I'm sure would break the bank for most of us) if the Falconer folks would even part with a single head. I guess it doesn't cost too much to just dream . . .

Comp roller cam blanks are round lobe blanks so they can be ground with the proper port sequence. You have to use Falconer rockers, but they are included for that 6k number (oh, what a deal, huh?). They will sell you a head no problem. I have talked to them about it and was pretty seriously considering one, but real life intruded and I moved my kids here to WA instead. Altogether I have no regrets, man, that would have been a hairy 6 banger!

Falconer's L6 is GM's racing version of the Vortec 4200. It uses it's own head. Yes, one of the V-12 heads would be an awesome thing on a 292, especially if you could figure out how to get a 4.125 bore so the head could breath. Duggan anyone? Up, up and away!!!!

I think the most practical alternative is the Sissell 12 port. Since it requires no modifications to the block to install it. Its just the cost thats hard to absorb, unless you are looking to go racing, then you can justify the cost.

I dunno, it all sounds like the going rate for a "12 port" setup once you get all the stuff it would take to make it run (somewhere between $5-12K).

I'm not trying to make light of it, as I don't have that kind of cash either; bt that does seem to be the "price of cool" these days.

On the other hand, a "24 port" should be twice as cool, no? (IIRC the Falconer head for his I6 has individual ports for each of it's 24 valves)

I'm not sure how the Falconer L6 (24) ports are done. From looking at the photo, it appears the 6 injectors are an extended oval shape that suggests each of the pairs of intake ports merge (dare I say, siamese?) before they exit the head. As I recall, that was typical of many 4-valve DOHC heads including the Offy's.

Of course I could be wrong - wouldn't be the first time and certainly won't be the last . . .

Perhaps I'm thinking of a different engine, but I recall seeing a picture of one with the injector assembly off and there were 12 intakes on that one.

That may have been a prototype of some sort though.

It's a two valve per cylinder head.
