I have a 250 that I have been told has a forged crank and rods. He said that because it is a 'blue block' that meant this was so. He is a hobby car racer and knows the inline chevs pretty well (I would think).

Does this seem right?

Dear Canuck;

Check with Larry (Twisted Six) or
the guys in the 'Hi Pro' section.

Good luck.

The rods in the 250 are forged; in the U.S. 250 cranks are cast.....I have been told (but have no proof) that the 407N crank designates cast nodular iron (different graphite compound)....if memory serves me correctly some of the early 194 and 292 cranks were forged......look at the parting line on the crank: if it is wide that indicates a forged unit, narrow indicates cast....fats
