Exactly what the title says. Need a Holley carb setup for blow thru operation. Want to test a turbo on the 250 dyno. Pm me if you have one to loan. I can arrange shipping. Tom

If you have a Holly w/plastic floats,it will work.

How much boost are you going to run?

I will be glad to put it over there also. This is to borrow/ loan. Not give me or to purchase.

Hank,
willing to try 5-6 lbs boost, that should be real easy to do and be able to control on the dyno. I know what spark timing to give it and think it will be another good test. Tom

I have a 350 and a 500 holley 2 bbl (each).

If I can find themm and they would help, you can keep them, but they will likely need gone through (both ran when removed, but have been sitting a LONG time).

Erik,
Thanks, believe I will need a 4 bbl.
I do have a couple, but none setup for blow thru operation. Maybe just have to study up and get one upto the task. One does have the black foam floats. Tom

It is amazing that so many people can make so much good use of this BB in-spite of your obstructions and needless interventions. What is wrong with someone asking for help? Tom only asked for the loan of a part to be used in the testing that many of the members here are helping support. We want to see the results of Tom's tests much more than we want to see your nit-picking. Which section of the classifieds would best serve his needs, the "Parts to Loan" section or the "Parts to Borrow " section? If you choose not to be a part of these tests go sit on the porch. We don't need you barking at us as we pass your yard. Please ask your keeper to close the gate because we are also tired of stepping over the little piles you leave in the middle of our communications. The sum of your 2 cents is adding up to a total annoyance. You have been sniping at this project from the beginning and seem bent on picking a fight and abusing monitorial authority as often as you can. When you say your prayers tonight give thanks that Orlando is so far from here. To answer your initial question, I feel fine. Thanks for your sincere concern. Beater

Guess I did not see much difference in posting this. Many people come on the site asking for information, ie:
what cam to use
where to find this part or that part
how do I do this
and so on.

So I ask if someone has a carb to loan for blow thru operation (turbo). Bad me.

I have helped lots of people with parts thru the years and plan to keep on doing it. Maybe it is just the way I am.

Like was said earlier, going to have to modify my own, no big deal, just takes time. I will know more after it is done, that's a good thing. Tom

Tom, Sorry to wreck your thread. How big does the carb need to be and does it need to be a Holly? I'll see what the local turbo guru has. Beater

Like the carb to be no bigger than a 600, I think smaller would be better. You did not wreck my thread. Keeping my sights aimed ahead on target. Tom

Not yet, but have spotted them on ebay real reasonable. 40.00 plus shipping.
I have extra 390 and 600 carbs, was hoping to find a 450 sized unit. Tom

Tom,

I have an extra Holley 450, but it'll need a rebuild. Please email me at chevy2inreno@sbcglobal.net if interested.

Thanks,

Dave

This is what's happening.
I have a 500 2 bbl. Going to set it up for the blow thru tests. Should be able to provide plenty of fuel and airflow.

Thanks all for taking the time to consider your options to help.

Found out that 450 carbs did not come with double squirters, some did come with mech secondaries for blower use. I needed a carb with double squirters and mech secondaries. 600 double pumps are easy to find but are just too big for a 250 motor. Tom

The local turbo guru showed me how he modifies carbs to work on blow through set ups. It really isn't as hard as I thought it would be. I'm sure you know that. I think the 500 will work fine. Beater

Tom,

Under boost you are flowing more air than NA so the 600 will be fine, especially on the dyno where your starting pulls most likely over 2000 RPM.

Where a big carb/little motor hurts is NA at part throttle/transient response as there is insufficient signal at the booster to get good atomization and the fuel puddles out causing a bog.

So I suggset you try both the 500 2bbl and the 600. I bet the 600 has better transistion to boost as you have smaller venturis to work with. Also remeber 2bbl's Flows are rated at a different intake vacumm.

My $0.02.

Fiqured this would be the case, one of the carbs I do not own a 600 double pumper. Still the 500 should work very well as a dyno carb, fiqured not as good for a street turbo carb. Tom
