I am in fact still converting my 65 Nova 250 inliner to a Manual transmission. While I have gathered up most of the parts to convert it I have stumbled upon and asked around regarding Hydraulic Throw Out and clutch packages.

I have this link provided by my friends at Steves Nova site:

http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/kit_hcrc.htm

Which has a pretty nice kit to get the system started if it can be adapted by all of us.

I love the idea of a Hydraulic package as it eliminates the use of a standard z bar and frees up that area for exhaust systems. It really makes the system easy too.
Any thoughts here?

James

I have a different brand kit on the Mustang T-5 in my '31 Tudor, I like it, I especially like the part about being able to get to all the hydraulic parts without dropping the trans.

'Cause it would have been even less fun to have to drop the trans (if it had been the slave instead of the master) in the Ely Nevada Motel 6 parking lot. \:\(

Moral of the story being, I beleve this type of system to be the easier version to maintain. \:\)

Nexxussion,
Do you have any pics of your car? I would like to see that setup. I considered doing this, but decided to go with manual linkage due to the difficulty of the setup, especially for the master cylinder, and the appearance.

I have tried a couple of different versions of the hydraulic throwout bearing setup (where the slave fits around the input shaft and you use shims to set the spacing). I have never successfully gotten one of these to work. As soon as you put any power to the clutch via burnout or qtr-mile shifting, the heat in the clutch would boil the clutch fluid and there went your clutch pedal. I tried all types of fluid (including the expensive 573 degree stuff) and drilling illegal vent holes in my bellhousing, but never got it to work for anything but commuting type driving. Go with the external slave unless there is no other option at which point I would strongly consider an automatic. I pulled the trans 6 times in 10 days during power tour 2000 to replace the orings in the slave. And I tried buna and viton o-rings as well.

Jim, sorry about the late answer.

No, I don't have any pictures of the setup as it is on the A.

The MC is under the floor.

This is the same setup I have.

I "borrowed" that from Mustang Monthly .com

Specifically

Yeah, I wish, just passin' through. \:\(

Took the oportunity to visit the train museum, neat place. \:\)

Don't let OSHA see it though. \:o

Bought one of their signs warning panhandlers and politicians to stay out. \:D

Ate at the resteraunt there just West (IIRC) of the T intersection, I want to say it was the "Red Apple" (though it may have been some other reference to apples ). Good eats. \:\)

The staff of the Motel 6 was kind and helpfull.

I even got to ride the "bus line" \:D (at the time there were no taxis, so there was a shuttle bus of sorts that you could call and they would come and get you, worked for me)
