Going to have my motor out while installing a 700R4 and would like to clean it up and repaint it. Does anyone know what engine color to use for a 1962 Canadian Pontiac with a 261? It is green now but I am not sure if it is the correct green. Thanks in advance...Steve

Dear Steve;

If there's a Pontiac Dealer nearby;
check & see if there's any old
literature on them, or a (retired)
Mechanic that would know.

Good luck.

Go to your local Big truck repair shop and get some Detroit Diesel Aspen Green. And for heaven sakes don't buy that awful Ford 6 cylinder green. Sheesh.

Does anyone know about the color for a Chevy 235 passenger car? My engine was originally more of a turquoise color, but all I can come up with is a Blue that does not seem to match. Definitely not Detroit Diesel Green!

Thanks!

Up to '54 235's were gray. After that Chevrolet Blue, not GM Blue. Most franchised auto parts stores carry those colors in a rattle can.

The Rattle can Chevrolet Blue does not match. It looks nice, but does not match.

i have used the Chevrolet blue that Eastwood sells. It appears to me to be close on the original. My GMC in a '52 Chevrolet is painted that color.

God's Peace to you.

Blessings to you as well.
