I just replaced the head gasket on my gmc 302 six and need to adjust the valves.Anybody know the valve lash and proper valve adjustment sequence?? Thanks,Mike

Dear Mike;

You can find the settings in the Motors manual for the year of your engine etc. The local parts store should have that or check the Library. Patrick's would have it too.

I would set them before you start it. Then you can 'fine tune' it after.

There in no particular sequence. Most just start at the front (#1)"becaust it's closest" & work back.

Also check the tech section at www.stovebolt.com. There is some good info there, including valve adjustment.

I'm hoping you consulted a manual for the proper head bolt torque sequence? If you did, then the valve adjustment procedure should have been in there also.

Cool thanks for the replies.Got the valves sorted now just need to deal with the rochester carb on it.....
