I have a 250 and am planning to running dual 2-barrel Carter webers w/ offy intake and want to run a 700r4. I have read alot on this web site about 700r4's but haven't found any info on this type of set up.
So is it possible to run the TV cable with a dual carb set-up will it be hard to make work? If some one has pictures or can lead me in the right direction. Also is there any kind of trick with the lock-up wiring?
Does the 250 require a special flex plate or starter for a 700r4?
This will be my first 250 build so I just want it to be as perfect as it can be? So don't flame me too bad I am trying to learn as much as possible.

Is this a regular Offy product, or are you adapting it?
If you're using simultaneous linkage, extend it to run the TV.
If using progressive (I wouldn't) it must run off the primary carb.
The exact angles and travel dimensions can be found on-line, just match whatever link you use.

Hi ghost driver . . . welcome to our boards . . .

If you are looking at Langdon's stovebolt setup the challenge I see is the orientation.

The stock linkage 'lifts' and the Webers are setup sideways:
Langon's Single
Landon's Dual
this means that the TV cable will need to bend 90 degrees left in order to order to be in the same plane as the throttle lever on one of the Webers.

I am curious to see what others may have done.

Thanks for the welcome,

I am running the dual carb set-up from Langon's with his dual carb linkage and a plan offenhauser intake for 2 single Barrel carbs with adapters for 2 Two barrel carbs.

stock49 you are right on the money I am looking at the dual carb linkage and trying to figure out if it is worth the trouble of trying to set it up do to the connection of the throttle cable mount. I was hoping that some one out there has ran this set-up and give me the break down.

It doesn't have to run from the carburetors.

I am confused because both you links show the TV cable connected to the Carb linkage in some way. I may be totally missing some thing though.

New Questions is it the T-5 Manual trans that mounts the same as a TH350? If so I may go the manual route.

Here's a couple of shots of Bellcrank system being 'developed' for a 292/700r4 I believe.
This will be first attempt to post images so cross your fingers!

Hi Joe . . . nice pics . . .

The 'bell crank' that panic is talking about is the stock one on the stovebolts:

This pic is from a really sweet '48 I came across on the web a few years back Chevrolet 261 Jobmaster

The idea is to run the tv cable off that instead of the carb.

Yes, I assumed that too and I was just trying to show that the crank and TV cable bracket might (theoretically) be located anywhere away from the carb as long as you can get an input from the throttle linkage.
But then what's wrong with running it off the carb if you do something like this guy did. You would just have to fab up the cable bracket to mount on two of the carb base bolts because you’re already actuating the carb with Tom Langdon's kit. I did mine something like this by just modifying an OTC bracket (Mr Gasket or Cal Custom?)
http://
I think the rocker cover will be less of an issue on the older motors if using the 1-2bbl adapters because they're approx. 2" tall IIRC.
OBTW, Happy New Year to all.

Yes , he went all the way around the carb with the accel. cable. I used a combo bracket and ran both cables over the valve cover with my accel. cable connected to that hole where he has his return spring hooked. I'd take a picture of mine, but the car is in the paint shop (and it's a mess compared to his!).

I specially like the "spacer" of stacked nuts, looks like something I would do temporarily (and becomes permanent 'cause it works).
