Well im new here to this site, i figured i would post a ongoing project of mine. I have been collecting the parts for the past couple of years and i hope to have it running before the end of this year. I still have some parts in the process of being aquired. welcome, nice to see you posting on our site.

so far you have a nice group of parts added up.
here is a few questions and comments.
what car is this going into? i think i know , but just to let everyone else too.
that is a pretty big cam to be mixing with a 700r4. 1st , i do not think it will take the power and second the O/D will hate the cam. my suggestion would be a th350 and a bolt on O/D if you want O/D.
also, what rear and ratio? tom

I have had a lot of people mention that...which i respect and have taken into great thought..... another builder has recomended a 200 r4 which can handle the power which i am seeking right now, i will let you know the specs and all as soon as i have conformation.......it is supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread but i do not belive the hype....will let you know asap

sorry i forgot to add the most important part of what the engine is going into.

1967 chevy nova 4 door

i have completely upgrade the suspension to what a stock 4 door can hold....cpp mini sub frame...church boys rack and pinion....qa1 coil over shocks....global west subframe connectors and del-alum ahackle kit.....upgraded 10 bolt...qa1 shocks in the rear...

my goal is to present a stock looking car other than the rims and dust the competators....we will see....

if not i have a pro stock ready 67 nova wagon made to a 2 door and choped 4 inches to compete with this...

ah, 4.10's, the o/d will like that alittle better. it will help get the cam out of the low rpm overlap. i also agree that a 200r4 will give better ratio's. the only place i'd buy one from is the real art karr (sp). somebody bought his old bussiness and i would not buy from them. tom

I would like to know what your goal is as far as HP,1/4 mile time & so-on.?
1/4 mile car,top end? daily driver,good street manners.weekend car,strip only,,street/strip,,,etc.. what is more your goals?

Running a big cam will not hurt the 700,if anything, running a big cam will give you less torque at lower RPM's for the most part,, & torque is what kills transmissions,not so much HP.
As far as your turbo exhaust manifold.
A plane log type manifold will work just fine.

Look at this guys stock modified manifold making a lot of HP.

530 hp@5300 and 588 lbs@4000rpms at the flywheel, with 21psi boost and E85.

IIRC,,,A guy in Brazil has made 869 HP w/the SPA manifold ,same as yours,, on a 250.

Welcome to the site.Looks like a strong build with all those go fast parts. I was wondering what kind of turbo are you going to run? I see a T3 ar70 turbo in your list ? Any more specs on it?

Here are a few pictures of my turbo manifold i am building.....its not complete yet and im not to sure if it will have good flow characteristics but im giving it a try...im having custom stanless steel exhaust flanges plasma cut right now so the plate it is welded to is only a mock up. Also a picture of my adjustable timing gear.

Looks impressive.

Is there enought room to complete the welds with it assembled like that?

Is there room for your intake still?

Looks nice so far.

I read in your other post, you are only looking to make 400 HP???

If that is the case,this turbo manifold is a bit overkill.

You can make a plane jane log type manifold for 400 HP.

But since you are making a nice manifold & you are probably having fum making it,as I would also,keep it up,you are doing a good job!

B.T.W.,those are stainless schedule tubing,how much have you spent on materials so far?

Sorry for the gigantic pictures...i did not know they were that big.....well the manifold so far in materials is close to the 400 dollar mark, that stainless tubing is not cheap. When i go back to tig it up i will take one complete tube off at a time and weld it solid and put it back together. It clears the intake fine im just worrried about car fitment thats why i have not finished it yet. I will keep you posted with smaller pictures this time...

well the turbo i have to say is a cheap one, it was about 350 to 400 bucks oil lubricated. This is more of my experimental turbo i have plans to upgrade to a water cooled one after i work out the engine bugs.

in terms of horsepower i am amming low right now and if it comes out to be more than thats great....i have ran it through the desktop dyno and it has given me some crazy numbers so i will wait and see when its done so i do not clame anything it will not produce.

Still plugging away with some parts here, put the deposit on the head today, the description is as follows....

Custom Stage 4 Turbo Roller Cam head

STAGE FOUR Hot Street Econo; Lump Port Street Head, All included in Stage one, two, and three; with the addition of a performance valve job. and PC seals. 12 High Performance intake and exhaust valves 6 stianless intake and 6 Special alloy Inconel exhaust Valves . Special roller cam springs, Titanium Retainers, ARP special length screw in studs. I will post some pictures when it comes, also i got my stud girlde.

The piston order is going out this week, i should see them again in about 4 weeks. specs as follows

I think you are going to make much more power than you are thinking.

I would also recommend the 200-4r unless you already have the 700r4.

I really really want you to put steelies with dog dishes on it. That car will make millions!

Hopefully so,

I have so man other freinds spend lots of money and produce low numbers.

We will see ill keep my fingers crossed.

The whole goal of this car is to remain stock looking on the outside for the "sleeper" approch.

A few more up dates for you

Off to the machine shop:

Basic list of operations to be completed:

1. Drill for Oversized pushrods- need to be 3/8”
2. Damper needs to be recessed onto the crank by cutting a .250” relief in the gear to pull it on to both keyways
3. bore block .060 over with plate( being shipped as we speak)
4. boil block install cam bearings and freeze plugs
5. align hone block
6. surface block
7. balance crankshaft assembly internal
8. size wrist pins to piston
9. polish and mag crankshaft
10. engine assembly (on this one im letting the shop do the first assembly so i can get it properly recordered and checked for any futture issues)
11. o ring the block for my stainless wire- no rings on the head...

I will be sure to get some pictures of the whole process, i will not be dynoing the motor untill later in january/febuary time frame.

It will take a while to get all of the final parts, mocked up/fabbed up after it is built.

Also a new turbo:

I mocked up the new turbo to my cast iron manifold. Its a T4 turbo and a T3 manifold so i had to get and adapter the would move it up a little. The T4 can be adapted directly to it but i still want the option to go back to a T3 if i so choose.

Turbo specs:1.05 A/R

Compressor Size: Inlet = 4 3/16", Inducer = 68.7MM, Exducer = 97.8 MM, Trim = 69,A/R = 0.66, Intake (ID / OD) = 2.25" / 3.25"

Turbine: Outlet = 4", Turbo flange = T4, Downpipe flange = 3.5" V-band, Inducer = 87.4 MM, Exducer = 77 MM,Trim = 92, A/R = 1.05


Its a little big but we will see what it can do when it comes for the dyno day.

Also the block has been Bored 60 over.

If so,might want to use one of these from my friends shop.

Went by the shop today to check out some progress.

The crankshaft was back from the shop and it looks good.

The the gear has been recessed on the crank to allow the harmonic balancer to pull into place.

The gear has also put onto the camshaft.

The block has been bored, honed and o ringed.

Hopefully it will be finished in a couple of weeks.

Did you drill & tap the end of the crankshaft?

If not, I would suggest a BBC size damper bolt.

The crank has been drilled and taped.


Here are a few more pictures of the build.

Engine assembly has begun, the short block is about finished,

the engine should be buttoned up by the end of the week.

I still have to get it home before i can run it on the dyno.

still working on it,

i want to get the engine up and running first and then i will look at finsihing the manifold
