Probably should try to come during Bonneville in August or Dec.

There is Hot August Nights in Reno and events around Carson City, Lake Tahoe, and the Reno Area all summer. The National Car Museum in Reno is great as well.

If you want to see the crazyest inline stuff on the planet, Bonneville is the place to be.

I've only been to speedweek, not World Finals or any of the other events there (not for lack of trying).

I've seen a Deuce Roadster, with a Turbocharged, 320+CID, 12 port GMC, on Nitro, as well as a Hilborn injected "stock" headed GMC (purportedly build by Ed Roth) in a streamliner, not to mention the various flathead inline engines (Packard 6 comes to mind) with custom heads (billet).

I run an inline 4 there, maybe not what you are looking for, but plenty of those there too.

Old Indy engines, the occasional Offenhauser, and the requisite large displacement Keith Black V8s with the largest superchargers on the planet screwed on.

It's the best place to be, but I'm biased. ;\)

It is rather hot on the salt in August but you would be surprised at how all the interesting stuff makes you almost forget that. I have been to the flats several times and in fact became aware of Inliners Int. there on my first visit(and joined). Even had the opportunity to fly one of my r/c models there one year. A real blast!

You might want to take in the Hot August Nights show on Reno that lasts for a week and is wall to wall hot rods and customs and a great swap meet and the next week is Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats 400 miles (640km) away. If you have time before or after the Peterson Museum in Los Amgeles and the NHRA Museum in Pomona are great stops too. \:\)
