This adapter will allow a T5 to bolt up to the 4200 automatic bell housing. Note the 4 transmission bolt hole need to be drilled/tapped by the installer - this allows the transmission to be tilted if needed.

The plate has provision to install a GM pivot ball for the clutch fork. The bell will need a hole added to install the fork - nothing that a hole saw won't take care of. Alternatively a self aligning hydraulic slave that mounts on the input shaft could be used - your choice. The adapter is cut from 3/4" Aluminum plate. The bell housing depth puts the transmission 1/8" further from back the engine than a normal GM bell which still allows plenty of pilot engagement.

If you need to install a different trans (non-T5) email me with the transmission bolt pattern/bearing retainer OD and a different adapter can be made.

Another reason not to use a 4200 just evaporated....

I have been toying with the idea of upgrading to a 4200 but I enjoy the 250...T-5 combination that I now have. This thread has got me thinking.
I'm wondering if the T-5 will stand up to the increased power of the 4200.

I'm sure it will if your not drag racing with sticky tires. For sure a WC T-5 will even with some abuse.

A buddy of mine had a 5.0 mustang and while I had his WC T5 for overhaul, he ran a 4 banger T5 and it didn't break. Lets say the lower 1st gear got pounded on....

Dunno. I killed a nonWC T5 with my 4.3 v6. Then again Trout runs a T5 behind his 4.2.

More trannys are blown from driver error than excess power. There are no "bulletproof" transmissions. You have to pick the one that best fits your needs and live within your choice. For those who doubt the existence of "excess power" get one of the well tuned autos. \:D
