hello Dave- I can say more to help but to verify what you need call Glenn Self racing

580- 924-5866

he has built many of these engines and done alot with them....as many know , boring the 292 .0125 is not advised-but has and can be done- for someone who has done this and can answer detailed questions try making this call.

I have never done this procedure but will do what i mentioned earlier in other Post.
keep us informed what you continue you do-thiese are fun engines

by the way, thru all this ,please share what your project is again..ok?
hope this helps

let me add this-i have been shockingly amazed that a .030 bore is best on a high reving 292....my research with old school concpts is that these cylinder walls keep a better ring seal with a strong wall and too much bore weakens the wall and at high rpm, high CR and high heat due to high CR ,the cylinders distort more-faster Et's with less bore!!!!!! I was shocked to find out that more HP can come from a less bored 292-interesting huh?
but then again......

Hi Dave,
Did you want to bore 12 1/2 thousands and take 10 thousands off the pistons? or .125" overbore and .100" off the pistons?

A dumb question from me: if you haven't determimed your final bore, how can you think about doing anything about your existing pistons?

Your right guys I'll think I'll stay with the 0.030 overbore which is where I'm at and look for other sources of power. Next question is-- Looking for advice on the cam. This again is a marine application in a 4500lb 23 foot Formula, single engine. I have been looking at cams in the .500 range with 270 duration. Am I in the right ballpark and what is the pratical limit for an engine for this use?
