Bought an 84 3/4 pu with a 292. went to buy some spark plugs and they did not fit. Took out the existing plug and went to buy some more of those. Found a website that tells what parts go into vehicles. I put in the spark plug number and almost all of the engines were of the dodge, jeep flavor---no GM.

engine block number is 3789404 66-76. Head gasket needs to be replaced, do Dodge parts fit on Chevy?

Block # shows 1963-90
292 4.8L withouth integral intake manifold.

Dodge and Chevy are not the same.

Not sure about the plugs but not suprised that one plug will fit multiple engines.

Went to the store to get plugs and they would not fit in at all, there were no plugs in the system that would have any plugs to fit at all. I realize GM and Dodge are worlds apart but the listing i found states the plugs in the engine from either a Dodge, or Jeep, Toyota etc.(not GM) spark plug size in engine is 405.

My question is has anyone else had anything similar occur to them?

The vehicle may be an 84, but it appears to have an engine from
the late 60's. Chevy 292 motors in that period used plugs that
were a long reach(3/4 in threads). Those plugs were also used in
Chryler products. If you look up a '68 Chev P/U C20 with a 292,
the plug number is a 405 Autolite. It is also a 405 in Champion.

BTW The block may be from an 84, but the head may have been
changed, as all 194,230,250 and 292 heads are the same configuration.

41 Coupe:

I am going to be changing the head gasket, should I order for the 60ish or the 80ish engine. I am unsure if they are identical or not?

Thanks

ITS NOT UNCOMMON FOR A CHEVY I-6 TO CRACK CYLINDER HEADS, GET IT HOT AND BET ON IT BEING CRACKED. MIGHT BE THE REASON YOU THINK IT NEEDS A HEAD GASKET !!!!! I HAVE A N.O.S. GM 292 HEAD GASKET IF YOU NEED ONE.
