I'm having a heck of a time finding the flex plate I need for my 292 build.

I need a 168 tooth with 9 holes (6 by 1/2" mounting and 3 by 7/16" for alignment pins. Like this:

The problem with that one is that the torque converter to flex plate holes are too far out from center. Those holes are like 5& 3/4" from center, and the holes in my torque converter are more like 5&3/8" from center.
This is where the holes need to be to fit my torque converter-where the little silver nut is:

I don't think there is enough meat there to drill new holes. I don't know which way to go. Should I find a 168 that fits my T/C and ream the 7/16" crank holes out to 1/2" and add the 2 more alignment pins? That seems like the simplest PITA. Or does anyone know a place that has what I need without having to modify things?

Thanks,
Pritch

Buy the one that fits your convertor and Redrill for the crank If you are having that much problem.

Pritch-

You might check a NAPA #600-5150.
This is what I used on my 292.

Have to ask, what torque convertor do you have?
P/G or Turbohydramatic?
Seems the bolt holes in convertor would line up with one of the bolt patterns in a dual pattern flexplate.

Buy a dual pattern 168T flex plate and use the plate you have next to your existing flexplate as a pattern to drill any additional holes you need for the dowels. You can then drill out the bolt holes to 1/2" and you are set.

Sorry-I've been out of town and couldn't post for some reason on my company laptop.

I ended getting a standard 168 dual pattern and drilling out the mounting holes and adding the 2 other alignment holes. It was simple enough to do on the milling machine at our main shop. It has a nice turn table to get the holes on just the right degrees.

This is a Bow Tie Overdrives torque converter, and the mounting holes are on the smaller-(10 3/4") of the dual patterns. It's all together now and sitting in the chassis.

Thanks for all the replies.
