Anyone have a drawing of the bell housing bolt pattern/dowel location for the 235/261? Mind sharing it?

I don't have a CAD drawing, but I could send you a pic.

You have me curious on what you're working on though. Considering a guy that is known for his 292 and Atlas 4200 exploits, is now working on a Stovebolt.

I CMM'd one a few years back, well actually it was an adapter for a Stovebolt to a conventional Chevy bellhousing adapter. The dowels where so far off on the Stovebolt side I doubt they could be trusted as accurate. I'll see if I still have it in a .dxf or .dwg file.

I took a few pics of the bell housing. Sorry about the glare. They're actually 8 7/8" apart. Maybe that'll get you started. There's a few more pictures too of the other bolt spacing. http://s1074.beta.photobucket.com/user/w...676853555446754

surely you're not gonna put a 4200 up to a closed drive tranny, a healthy 235 makes them sweat!

A neat thing that you could use is a '50 thru '62 235/cast iron PG factory adapter... 235 pattern on one side and round cast iron PG pattern on the other side(they also had 265, 283,327,348 V8/cast iron PG adapters '55 thru '62). Some people on Stovebolt.com site probably have them comming out their, lets say their ears.

Thanks all for the info - I was looking to see how/if/what it would take to get the stovebolt/jimmy bell to bolt up to the 4200 - it could have save some work on a swap - but the starter locations just won't work.

The stovebolt location runs into the block, the 4200 location would need an ugly hole cut into the stovebolt bell.

So if you have a stovebolt and wanted to jump 2 generations - the answer for a manual transmission is to use a 230/292 bell housing on the 230/292/sbc/bbc/LS adapter plate I posted on my 4200 turbo build. Jerry W. has the required flywheel.

It was worth the look. As Panic mention this would be with an open drive line swap - keeping the stovebolt bell may have made the swap easier. But no.
