I am looking for a Clifford (or similar) aluminum timing cover for my 250.
I have been in touch with Clifford and although they are looking to offer them sometime in the future, they do not have them available at this time.

PM me if you have one to sell.

Paul

He doesn't have timing covers. I'll have several styles available as soon as I get my foundry going in a few weeks. I have patterns for a 2 pc. cover and a traditional one pc. cover

Clifford's future is in the past but they haven't figured that out yet. I hope they do before their present is in the past.

Depending on on how quickly you have them available, I would be interested in one. My project is a bit behind right now ('bout a year) so a little more time may not matter.

Any idea when you'll have them available?

I also plan on having one yet this year to compliment my Valve cover and side covers. Going to the pattern shop next.

I was just meerly stating that he sells them, now weather or not he makes them him self is another thing i personally like his 3 piece style but i went with a stock look

No not at all, I didn't know if you thought he actually makes products he sells like Tlowe and others since you said "when did he stop making them".

Well unless I luck out on a good used one I will keep an eye out for CNC or TLowe's version.
I have not had any first hand experience with CNC's parts (yet) but have hear good things.
I have bought a few things from Tom Lowe and like what I have very much. I am sure both of you will have some great options available.
Hopefully soon!

Paul

Darrell, Did he happen to mention if he and his buddies will be at Hershey soon as in the past? Never mind. Just saw he posted on his web site he'll be at Carlisle this weekend. \:\)

For those that are interested, Mike (Mr. Hotrod 6) is offering the timing cover on ebay now.

I'm defiantly cracking a beer and watching this one. This will probably go for a mint. I know where I can get a used Clifford cover, but the guy wants a small fortune for it as well. What do they mean by "it will fit 3rd generation 250/292"?

The 250/292 engines are the 3rd generation of 6 cylinder made by Chevrolet. The 1st generation was the pre-1937 engine, then the 1937-1962 Sovebolt was the 2nd generation, and then finally the 194-292 engine group being the 3rd generation. The Atlas engines now being the 4th generation. Im fixing to get prototype samples of my 2 pc cover cast now, so barring any tweaking to the patterns, they should be available shortly.

The cover in the ebay ad looks nice, but is far over priced. He also states that it can be used to advance cam timing. Only if you have the matching cam gear (only available from South America) which he does not state. He also states the cam can be swapped by turning the second cover. That can't be done either if the balancer is bolted on. There will be no access to the bolts hidden under it.

Got a cover in the works that will be far cheaper than that, made in USA coming by end of summer.

I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one that noticed those issues as well. Good job Tom! Maybe we should each make some of those thermostat housings too.

Is your cover going to be like the one on E-Bay?
Or just a copy of a Clifford one like I already have.

I hope your timing cover will be cheaper than your $280+ dollar valve covers. If so, I'll probably buy one.

Thanks

Should be cheaper, it does not take as many beer cans.

If you look on my site, there are valve covers starting at 140.00. See if you can find a cheaper priced , made in USA cover with this quality and looks.

Just an FYI, on your website when you click on "250/292 Products"
Then click on the valve cover, it goes straight to the dampers.

How many 40 ounces would you have to drink to end up with 10-12 lbs. of aluminum? \:D

Only if you promise to keep it away from my favorite 20 gauge shotgunner. Someone back there needs to protect some brain cells. \:o
