Can anyone vouch for a harmonic balancer rebuild company?

I just recently took a balancer apart to make up a timing gear cover centering tool. The amount of rubber in one of these 235 balancers is deceptively minimal.

Back in the early 70's when I was a poor college kid I repaired a harmonic balancer on a 427 Corvette (champagne taste, beer budget) using black silicone gasket sealer (RTV) and wooden kitchen matches to center the two pieces. It was still working when I sold the car 5 years later.

Not sure if your definition of "working" matches SAE...

Last one 10 years ago was done by Dale's damper service. The modified GMC 302 was sold and now has about 65K miles on it.
The properties of the "rubber" in dampers is supposed to be engineered for a particular engine. Dale told me he has specs so his "rubber" is correct......But from what I know they use silicone in place of the original "rubber". It seems far more likely that all rebuilt dampers use the exact same silicone ?
