So i think i would feel much more comfortable taking the head off replacin the gasket and resealing the studs with arp sealer this wouldn't hurt any thing would it?

If you are going to remove the cylinder head entirely, then cleaning the deck surface on the block and head along with a new head gasket and sealing the threads in the water jacket, you should be as good as new.
