I remember reading somewhere about 307 pistons in a 230 or 250. is this correct? Will any small block parts interchange with the 194-292 6 cyls? Like Pistons or Rods?

I have herd that 283 pistons are the same ones in a 230/250. @50 has a longer rod.

The crank end of the bent8 rod is narrower than the L6 so can't be used without modification. It's usually better to get a set of custom rods than try to modify that sort of item.

Seeing That you do not have a Email available I'll reply here.
This I know for a fact. because I tested the two pistons (MySelf)First off Both blocks have the same Bore But they have diferent strokes. So this is how it goes The 283 piston will work in the 230 And the 307 will work for the 250. You would end up Milling Off To much of the top of a 283 piston to Be able to even think about Trying to use it in a 250. And The Piston Head would Be Very Thin. The 283 also has Different rist pin hight Then that of the 307 I didn't have the numbers here at home But IF i remember right it was over .100 defferance in hight That would have been need to be cut off the top of the piston. Even with useing a flat top 283 piston I beleave the top still would be to thin to use. ( if it had the be milled )

(This is What I had found out when I had planed On trying to use a 283 .060 popup In my 250 .030 Block) Hope this helps }[oooooo]

Stock rods can be reconditioned by Speed-o-Motive in Covina California. They magneflux, shot peen, bush the pin end and machine / ensure pin/journal center distances to within .0005" and provide alloy pins to match with custom pistons that they will order from the supplier of your choice. Not cheap, but hard to beat the quality of the work for the price.

A 230 is EXACTLY the same as a 307 (b/s)so using a 283 would raise the comp ratio to a desirable ratio.
A 250 can increase the comp ratio by using the 307 piston.

It's the 230 and 283 pistons that are identical, same part #, the Chevy part numbers too.
see: http://www.beckracing.com/slvpg25.htm - 230 http://www.beckracing.com/slvpg27.htm - 283

Using 307 pistons in a 250 is supposed to yield 9:1 compression.

Based on those charts- you should be able to use 283 pistons.
