Hello Inliners!
This is my 1st post. I am building a 1965 Chevy C10 1/2 ton truck. It's not ready for the road yet, but it has a freshened up 250ci - so yes, I really am an inliner!
I just completed a T5 rebuild and Camaro T5 - S10 conversion. The tech tip article on this website was instrumental in my decision making process.
I want to share my T5 rebuild here so that others can see what can be done.
My BLOG has detailed photos of the rebuild. I started with a 1984 NWC Camaro T5. I replaced the Camaro main shaft with the S10 main shaft. That moved the drive gear to the proper location to match the S10 driven gear location. I could have used the shim idea as mentioned in the Inliners Tech Article, but swapping the main shaft was easier.
My final result is a completely rebuilt NWC V8 Camaro T5 with a 2.95 1st gear and 0.73 5th gear. It has an S10 cable speedo output tail housing. It's all Borg Warner stuff plus a rebuild kit including all new bearings and seals. It will bolt up to my 250ci L6 cast iron bell housing without the need for an adapter plate.
I spent a lot of time taking clear photos of the rebuild process and I hope you enjoy what you see. Here are a few samples.
