Hey guys,i'm trying to gather up the last few pieces of my 292 build. Motor has a lumped head and larger valves, flat top pistons, clifford intake and split exhaust. I'll be running a 700r4 behind it. The motor is going into a 46 chevy pickup street rod. Is this to much cam for the tranny? I wanted to get one of Tom's cams but under the circumstances I figured I would check out other options.

Can't calculate the dynamic compression ratio for that combo without the cam card, which I don't see on their site. The intake closing at ABDC needs to be known to plug into the equation. To run on premium fuel, the common recommendation I see usually is to have a DCR of 8.25:1 or up to 8.5:1 with proper quench. Presumably this gets you a cylinder pressure of around 200psi. If you over cam your combo, DCR drops off and you wind up loosing power.

I'm assuming you are running flat tops with zero deck, a Felpro 0.040" head gasket, have milled the head down to around 70cc, and retained the stock rod length along with bore and stroke? Those are all numbers for the DCR calculator:

Are you sure it is flat top pistons? That would put the compression very high. Like 11 to 1 minimum.

That cam is almost the same as my M/R cam. Mine has more lift.

I am only limiting the orders temporarily by hiding the linking page. All my parts pages are still active and people are buying, but this cuts down most of the orders without me having to pull the plug on the site. No worry, just catching up on my chores.

Ahah! So the compression should in the range of 9.25-9.5? I think the 700r4 will work but may like a slight stall from stock. Like a 1650 or 1800 stall.

I am getting another cam size in the middle of the other 2 next week. Then later work on larger versions.

That cam will work, I would like a wider lobe center 110 is a little tight.
A slightly higher stall torque converter would be advised 1800-2100 w/a lock-up converter.

My Syclone has a stock 2100 stall torque conveter for a 700R4
It drives just like any low stall torque converter, you cannot even tell it has a 2100 stall with normal day to day driving.

I've been meaning to ask you if you have pdf's cam cards available for your cams, or at least a chart or something showing their ATDC,BBDC, BTDC, ABDC and centerline numbers? I like to use those numbers to calculate overlap and DCR to see what combos work best on what octane. Thanks.
