Had a week off to 100% dedicate to working on old blue, loved it. Things are beginning to sail along smoothly.

Since my last update:

-Cab and bed came off the frame.

-Cut out the cab rot and welded in new inner and outer rockers, cab supports and a wee bit of the floor.

-Frame and rear axle was sandblasted and painted.

-Painted the cab, '71 Nova donor engine and trans, new (used) auto column, new doors, new fenders.

-Installed new offy intake, new holley 2bbl and lokar kickdown and throttle cables. Got a moroso aluminum carb spacer for $14 that I redrilled so my carb could mount bowl front. Sweet!

-Stripped out the wiring harness and cleaned it up, removed the unnecessary parts (ASM relays and such)

-New (used) rallys and rubber, new brake lines.

It's come a long way since the first day of teardown....

It's been a year and a half to get to this point. Thanks to Hank, Sarge (RIP), Tom, Boucher, Snowman and the other inline freaks (whos names escape me) for bestowing your pictures, wisdom and tips to keep me on the right path.

PS: 12 Bolt goodies arrived yesterday, Christmas came early. Thanks Tom!

That looks like great progress. It's going to be a really cool truck...and um... what's that on the side of the motor? You didn't mention a turbo????? \:\)

Thanks....oh yeah, I forgot to mention my other inline on the side. Just a cheap Garrett knockoff. Its got a .63 turbine and a .50 compressor. I have a spectre aluminum snorkel for it that was sitting in the cab. I took it off when I was fiddling with the carb plate.

The first optest went smooth. The turbo spooled up nicely and the oil pressure was good. The valve cover leaked like a screen door though! I have a nice aluminum cast cover from TLowe now. No worries!

Hey,,,,, I got some recognition I think? Cool.

Just don't go & run 20+ psi w/out a proper tune, 87 octane & open exhaust. \:D

All the ingredients to surely blow up an engine quickly.

Good luck on the rest, what are the exact specs on the turbo?
Compressor wheel & turbine wheel sizes?
The .63 A/R is fine for a down low quick spool.

Thanks Hank, I'll keep that recipe off the menu. The compressor diameters:

EXD: 3" 73.55mm
IND: 1.99" 57.75mm

Turbine:

EXD: 2.2" 75.46mm
IND 2.56" 52.76mm

Those specs should work OK, I would like to see a larger turbine wheel, but you are not going to boost that high correct?

Do you have a link to that exact turbo?

Here's the link to one identical to the one I bought off ebay. I know not the best quality, but I figured it would be a decent start.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/T3-T4-Hybrid-Tur...1-/350653352261

The first firing went well. Good rotation and oil feed/return.

She's come along way.I had to rotate the carb so the bowl faced front for easier linkage routing.

The exhaust manifold is a craigslist 292 special. There was the start of a crack where the rough slag hadn't been cut off of the casting. I was able to burr bit that out. Then blasted and painted with some hi temp paint.

The donor 71 nova 250 (40,000 original miles) was pretty sad looking, so cleaned up and painted that. The chrome v/c is no longer. Toms cast cover now crowns the engine complete with matching side covers. I need to take photos of that to post later.

Need a little bit more info.
What are you wanting to do? What are your goals?
What vehicle, weight, daily driver, max power, auto, manual trans, rear gear ratio? ETC etc etc...

Stock weight? What vehicle? 3000 lbs 4500 lbs?

Definitely, need an OD trans.

Need a better camshaft to make up for the non modded cyl head. Stock is very restrictive.
