For the sake of simplicity and my budget...we're going with the stock 1/2-ton coils. so far so good, she seems to have a nice stance.

Car wise I'll finish up my '46 pickup, build the body for my '30s era champ car and begin restoration of The Last Logghe altered.

Here is what we got accomplished in three shop days on the Logghe car:

new main rails

a new front axle

hung the shocks

a very simple, straight-forward 4-bar suspension - about two inches of total travel

Tomorrow I will machine the Ford-six-to-powerglide block plate and Thursday we will install the dummy engine and finish up a few details before bringing it back home. I am really excited about how the front end turned out - a straight axle look with coil overs similar later Logghe funny car chassis. I look forward to setting this car up with a bullet proof six / 'glide combo and hitting some of the regional nostalgia races. Stop by and chat if you see us at your track.

After a few finishing details such as placement of the gas pedal and fuel tank mounts we brought the car home from Advanced Chassis today. I am anxious to finish it off and get some seat time in 'er again after a decade of languishing. I think I am going to put a stock type U-flow head on it with one of my homemade 3 x 1 tri-power intakes - if my headers will clear it. Then add a hi-stall 8-inch converter, a 1.82 Powerglide, and a 5.14 pig and try it out. New interior tinwork and paint job too in a bright orange or yellow with retro panels and lace or some such.

Update 11/'14:

The '46 truck is done and licensed.

The Logghe altered is done and running low 10s

The champ car is still under way.

My latest project - The Attic Anglia - has a new chassis w/ narrowed 9 incher and Fatmans IFS going in:

Also did a bunch of upgrades to the J/D to make it NHRA legal:

I finally figured out the firing order to that thing:1

I just went back through this. I've not completed anything since 2009! frown The MS is done but never installed. The darn 350 in the '68 flatbed that was going to get the TBI/Turbu/292 just won't die. The chicken house is done but no hot rods. I have lots in the works. Mostly my '26 Chevy roadster that has finally progressed past parts gathering. '26 Pics And that new acquisition a 1919 Essex engine and trans that has started a new gathering frenzy. grin

I like the oil filler tube with what looks like a sight glass on the side. This was probably at a time when auto guys were moving away from exposed moving parts and total loss lubricating systems. You should put a light INSIDE the oil pan and watch that column of oil give off light. Presto! 1919 lava lamp.

I like that idea! The glass is gone but I'm sure I can find something. There is a float in it that moves up and down I could hook up a switch that would change the color of the light if it got low.

I raced a 235 this summer and now I am building a 302 with the help of Patricks. Any other low budget 302 out there?

Work? I don't work on my cars. I fix them or make them better.

...and I'm about 6 hours into fixing my own stupidity right now.

My 68 Camaro, l6 250, had a little problem with a sticking throttle cable. Oh and I had just got done tunin my new 390 4bbl. I pulled out of my neighborhood and let her rip. Spun some rubber and watched the speedo move up. Let off at 55 but the car kept going. Went to put it in neutral but missed and hit reverse. At 65. Both back wheels locked up and spun me around. Barely missed a telephone pole and came to a stop. Shut the car off and found the throttle linkage hung up on the intake heater hose.

It broke both motor mounts and messed up the exhaust flange gaskets. Not an expensive fix but timely.

No other damage.

I've done that in one of my drag cars - at 140 mph plus. Got a chance to check out the paint job on both of the top end guard walls before I got it back into neutral.

It has always amazed me at slow your car seems to go when it is going where you want it to go and how fast it seems to go when it is going where it wants to go. grin

That's where she's at until the new motor mounts come in. Trying 68 Impala mounts in my 68 Camaro. They looked like they'd fit on the screen at Autozone and if they don't I can return them. As a bonus they have a safety strap.

We'll see...

Next up will be a new radiator. Old one is just about done for...

Update on my project. Long time coming... haven't driven since 2011. Just got the valve train done and now it's all about the external parts. Ready to go in the car if I had motor mounts painted.
Nothing too spectacular, just optimized the heck out of it and put in a bigger cam.

230, 9.5:1, Comp Cams 268H, zero decked, intake lumps, port work, valve job, countless tweaks to the head, heavier springs, threaded rocker studs, full flow oiling yadda yadda yadda. Starting with stock intake and single carb and stock exhaust to sort out little wrinkles if there are any. Studying my options still.
