So it's been getting pretty cold in the morning now and my daily car is a 1974 Chevy nova. Any tips or tricks to get my car to start up faster, yesterday it took me about 30-40 minutes to get the engine running.

Sounds like it's out of tune.

Start with the basics.
fresh air filter, PCV, Fuel filter
New sparkplugs, wires
Be sure the choke is working.

Add cap, rotor and a pertronix conversion. Also make sure to clean the ignition coil high voltage tower of crud.

Check or replace the pcv hose ...

Going HEI was the best thing I ever did on mine. Did it add performance? No. Did it help make it run better? TONS.

That's the one I bought. You'll also need new plug wires. Old ones will work but not properly.

Yeah it's probably time I replace the original distributor. I think the choke was the source of the problem, it wasn't fully closing
