Okay, so I was finally able to get a military 302.I bought it from Al Cunningham 2 weeks before he passed. RIP Al

The machinist stated internally that the crank was good; only needed polishing. The cam can be reground. The cylinder walls were only reamed and had a little variance at the top of the block on all cylinders. He suggested only .30 to clean it up. Decent inside. So I was going to order from Patricks' .30 over, with a 5 week wait for some Venolias pistons. Well I am now getting some Arias NOS pistons .60,in about a week. Bearings, gasket set, rods etc. Surprised and relieved that the old engine was in such good shape. They will do the basic head work for modern gas.I will of course have to take the oil pan and pump from my 270.Also I need to send the water pump to be rebuilt.

So I want to go with a single 4barrel carb. Was going with a 390 but a buddy said a 500 might be a better choice.

If you are building for the street a 390 will have sufficient CFM. A 500 4V will work, so it boils down to personal preference after that. Even a 500 CFM 2V (357 CFM 4V equivalent) would work fine.

Thanks for your comment. Am gathering the items needed for the machinist to finish the build.

I also have a 302 Military GMC the suggested build for the engine is a .030 over bore clifford performance has a blueprint for that build I just got heads back from engine shop installed 1.94 intake valves and sealed exhaust seats new 1.5" exhaust valves my question is the timing cover is pushed in at crank seal does anyone have a better cover or can someone repair this one ??? and who will chrome plate the rocker arm shafts and bush the rocker arms so they are higher ratio then stock ? is there aftermarket rocker arms that will fit the shafts?
