I may be nuking out the carb placement. I have the Offenhauser 5416 that wants my carb to be mounted perpendicular to the pull of my linkage. I made an adapter to put it back inline with the linkage (bowl faces radiator). I cut out the center of the spacer spacer to open it up for my holley 2bbl.

Now I am thinking I need to mount it 90 degrees to the manifold again. and with it, I am obsessing with the linkage. I've seen lots of ideas, some look decent and some look like they are ready to bind up. Then the kickdown for the tranny issue comes to light as another dilemma.

My question:

Should I just go with the carb bowl forward, or go deeper down the rabbit hole with clocking the carb 90 degrees?

If I decide to clock it, whats the most straightforward way to get the throttle and kickdown configured?

Thanks guys.

Jimmy

Go to cable controls. Much simpler and cleaner looking in most cases!!

So you are saying to clock the car 90 degrees and use cable controls?

It is what I would do. My 153 ci. 4cylinder uses a 390 cfm Holley NASCAR carb. I have it mounted with the bowls on the right and left. It allows for better mixture distribution at all speeds because my manifold has two major runners, one for the front pair of cylinders and one for the back. It places one primary and one secondary venturi over each runner.

Just going with what I know. Gonna clock it back. This is the best way to avoid a science project.
