A friend of mine has a 235 in a '48 Diamond T truck. He has a 3X1 & a 2X1 intake & Fenton headers. Through some dealings with a friend of his he also has a Clifford's Research cam. The @.050 duration is 268 & 272 or so & a lift of .533. He is on a very limited budget & no internet access. I told him to try to sell that ridiculously big cam & get a "Bulldog" cam or have one ground. I think it's Dayton Cams in Tacoma. Any cam advice would be appreciated along with some head milling advice. It seems that people like to cut the heads .100 or so. He is also unsure of which intake to use. Any advice appreciated. If that cam is really 268-272 at .050 duration that's race only / trailer car territory. Unless there's a $10,000 short block underneath, the engine will just blow up before that cam even starts to work right.
So agreed, I'd either regrind or just sell the monster cam or just set it aside.

With a "very limited budget", my approach would be, if the engine and current cam are good shape, leave em alone!
The intakes (I'd try both) and Fentons will be fun and add power even with a stock cam and its darn near free to try them. Tuning the carbs is where the gains are at and that just takes time, not big $$$.

If he feels the need for the cam...it's Delta Cam in Tacoma Washington 800-562-5500. They are very reasonable and quick. I had one ground and I think it was $90 including doing the lifters, round trip from the east coast and back.

But I agree with Deuce Coupe. Use what he's got, intake and headers...tune it. Me...I'd use the 2x1 intake. That'd about max out my patience trying to get it right.
