Hey guys. I am in a cnc class right now, and I'd like to make some finned aluminum side covers for our 292 engine. I'd like to know if anyone can post blueprints or just take measurements on a set of those for me.
I have the block and I have the stock covers, so if it just comes down to taking measurements, any area where the aluminum finned covers differ from the stock ones are key.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Oh! Very cool. I bought this for my brother, so I haven't taken a look at it yet, but I will check it out. Thanks man!

One thing to keep in mind, The alum covers will be thicker, and fins make them thicker yet. Keep clearance in your design for the distributor.

Make a timing cover. It will fit 194-292 sixes and the 153-181 fours. Each would take a huge hunk of aluminum.

How thick do you think the main body of the cover needs to be, Mr. Lowe? I have seen pics before of the back side that goes to the inside of the engine, and some of those have relief cut into that side.
Beater, I might keep that in mind, but the irregular shape of that cover seems pretty tough right now. The good thing about the pushrod covers is that they're just rectangular slabs. I am working on programming radii though.

I have a set of mrhotrod6's aluminum side covers and the main body is thick, THAT is Nice because they won't warp when you tighten them down....aiding in sealing.

Are we talking a quarter inch? 3/8"? I'm not as worried about the fin since it's cosmetic.

I'm pretty darn sure they are closer to 3/8.
