The recently rebuilt powerglide on my bone stock 250 sometimes sounds overly exerted as I accelerate down the street. A guy at work says he'll sell me a TH350 off the same year and make as my car. My question to you all deals with the compatibility of the TH350 to my 250 engine. Is this possible? Can I go against specification and swap my powerglide? Is a powerglide normally pretty clumsy and noisy?

Hard to say exactly what is making the 'glide noisey. Could be a front pump or the planetary gears. Whatever, I'd yank it out and install the TH350. 2 things you'll have to deal with are the kickdown cable - you can use the set up from any 250 / TH350 vehicle or an aftermarket bracket near the carb, and the front yoke on the driveshaft is different and the drivehaft length has to lose about 2 inches usually. TH350 bolts right up to your engine and flexplate and the mount under the tailshaft is the same and in the same location.

It makes a very nice set up and is not all that hard to do.

The TH350 If it is a short tail shaft can be Used with out any changes when it comes to the drive shaft. The kick down (ATV) cable is your only issue.
