Bear with me guys, I'm new at this and I am seeking info for the build I have in mind. I have a 1957 3100 TF frame and I want to put 4 wd components on it. So far I have a muncie 465 trans, and I am thinking about using an NP 205 t-case. What are some components I should be considering for this build and I welcome any advice I can garner.

Take a look at Novac adapters. They specialize in 4WD and adapting and upgrading trucks. They have a special section for Jeeps, but there are tables and lists of different combinations!!

I've just adapted a Dana 20 transfer case to a GM 4L60E transmission. Their parts are top shelf and their directions are clear and specific!!

Thank you Blackwater for your tip on the Novack web site. I also found a site called ; 67-72chevytrucks.com, and in their forum there is an abundance of good intel on just the type of conversion I am looking at. I finally found someone else who wants to use the stock TF frame and go from there. I will keep the stock 235 stovebolt engine and a muncie465 top loader. I will probably go with the np205 tcase but I am also considering others until I am sure about what components to use with it. Looking at Dana 44's from Jeep Wagoneers from 86 to 91 since the width is similar to the TF axle. I will post the results.

by the way, Blackwater, never tell a friend anything you don't want your adversaries to know

IIRC the 4X4 option in 57 was a 3rd party option (NAPCO) that was eventually offered by Gm until they produced their own. One thing you may want to look for is the NAPCO installation or service manuals. They should describe how it was done back then.

Rick

Does anyone remember the Chevy add with the (I think) '57 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup driving up the side of Pike's Peak?

I didn't want to totally hi-jack Tugheart's thread so here is the 1957 Chevy 4x4 vs Pike's Peak movie.

I'm sorry I thought I put that link in it's own thread.
Help tugheart find what he needs.
