New here so please forgive me if the question has already been asked. With that said I know it's a longshot. For my 1937 Pontiac 6 Silver streak with 222.7 CID flat head I am interested in a couple things: Speed equipment (anything) to help with horsepower and a transmission adapter to mate my engine to an S10 5 speed. My car is stock and the 3 speed along with the rear gears don't allow for much of a top speed over 50. Gear replacement is not an option due to nothing available. So unless someone has an overdrive...

I've dabbled with making performance parts for the later Straight 8 like the 248 and 268, but I've never seen anything offered for the early Straight 6 like yours. Anything in particular you are seeking?

Well, an aftermarket intake for dual carbs, also split exhaust setup as well. That would possibly allow for a bit more zip. The ability to get another gear or two would be my priority though.

I'd call NOVAK! They do a LOT of adapters1 They may not have anything listed, but they have some pretty sharp folks that work there!! The may have what you need or know what it'll take!!

I have a 1936 Pontiac with a 292 & 5 speed. When I was looking for a rear end to fit it, I found out that a third member from a 1955 through 63 or 64 had of ton will bolt right in. The only thing you have to change is the axle gears to fit the original axles. You can find gears for these. I put 3.36s in mine. Hope this helps. Joe

I believe Edmunds made dual intakes and finned aluminum heads for Pontiacs. They show up on eBay from time to time.

Before the GMC 228 in '39, I think, GMC used Pontiac and Olds flathead sixes Ellis made multi carb intakes for lots of trucks and I'm pretty sure they made them for the these. I have seen them for later GMC and International sixes even the BIG GMCs.
Almost all of the after market intakes are aluminum and with the easy availability of TIG welders modifying one is pretty easy. Thank God for Eddy Edmunds, he made something for everyone. An intake is easier to make fit than a head but I've seen some two piece CNC aluminum heads for other flatheads so it's about how bad you want it and your checkbook. What ever you do that old flat motor has a cool factor no modern engine can touch.
