Soon anyway. Our '40 Chevy 2 door sedan has sat undriven for about the last year but I'm going to change that over the next few weeks. It has a '62 261 out of a school bus that had 42,000 miles on it when I put it in. I installed a syncronized 3 speed Muncie transmission with a 3.08 12 bolt rearend. It will get a new clutch kit, with the flywheel resurfaced, a valve adjustment, and a tune up, plus an oil change.
The car has Mustang II IFS, using the crossmember from the mustang, with manual steering and GM midsize/S10 calipers and rotors. It drives great. We've had the car since 1980 or 81 so it's like part of the family.

That sounds like a great ride and getting it back on the road is a great goal! A friend loaned me a '40 four door for a few months in Montana over 50 years ago. I t was all stock and I was surprised at where it would go,how well it handled the snow and how it did on the highway when ever I found one. laugh

I found the clutch to be stuck TIGHT. I tried and tried but was unable to free it so I removed the driveshaft and moved the car to a level spot where I can get it up on stands and go ahead and replace the clutch. I think I'll mark the "other two" 120 degree positions on the flywheel for the valve adjustments while I have it off.
There is a new water pump to go on the car also, before it hits the road again. I am using an early pump with the adapter plate on the later engine.

A lot of stuff has been going on and I have not been able to change the clutch yet. I bought two throw-out bearing forks for it quite some time ago because the one in the car is damaged. Today I cleaned both the new ones and will use one when I change the clutch, soon now I hope.
