I spent this weekend at a good friend's estate sale helping the family sort, price, load, and even haul a lifetime of "treasures". What an eyeopener. I've done this several times in the last few years but this is by far the biggest stash of diamonds in the rough. There is another similar site about 100 miles north that the family will tackle next weekend and we'll be back at this one on March 26th. While I am astonished of what people bought I'm very concerned that much of it will not sell. Literally tons of 216 stuff and some 235s, AD pickups & parts, 3 fairly complete '48 Plymouths (2 coupes & a sedan) & One '49 two door. '30s, ''40s, '50s Chevy axles, rear ends, trannys.........A '57Chevy school bus who's engine in in a big beat up dump truck. It may be a 261. I haven't been able to check it yet. Lots of Harley stuff. I hauled a complete on the a fellow Inliners shop Yesterday. I pulled a roller chassis off a wall about 10' off the ground with my tractor bucket. Man I thought I had a bunch of crap!
Thanks to my fellow Inliners who stopped by to check it out.
Since Kirt died a few months ago I've been taking a new look at my piles and have started the reduction plan. Some of what is here is tied to what is there since he & I gathered 4 of the AD pickups with some parts here & some there. Any way it is a true heads up! Last week I cleared 16' of work bench in my shop and the walls behind it. Going out in a while to try and get the last 6' done and put up some pegboard. This is a bench that I have not seen the top clear in years. It's only the beginning in reclaiming my shop & storage space. A vow that once cleaned the shop will never be storage again. I have a roadster to build.
A high point Saturday was two young guys who bought a 22R Toyota pickup that we dug out of the piles of metal & parts where it had been setting for years. The bed was full as well as the cab. We got it loaded on their trailer about 11:00 AM. They drove it back around 3:00 PM With big smiles clean and purring like a Kitten! It just needed a fuel pump.
