Hi there, guys!!
I bought a few month ago a street car (Chevrolet Opala SS 1978), and made it my Drag Car for now while the Yellow Turbocharged one is on fabrication.
Well...
The car have a Stock 250 cid rods (5.7" rods) and 4" stock pistons of the 151 Chevy 4 cyl engine!! It´s a 4.400 liters engine. It have 15,5 compression ratio, stock cylinder head and 3 Webers carburetors 40mm. It´s running on Methanol, No Nitro.
We made 373,5 HP on the wheels at the Dinamometer.
It was my first time on the track with this car, and on the second pass we made the regional record of the class in 1/8 mile, turning 8.0s with 0,119 reaction time.
The car class allows only street cars, fully mounted, without any boost devices (nitrous, Turbocharger, Supercharger and so), and the cars have to use only Brazilian Street tires with a maximum width of 205mm on the rear, and a minumum of 185mm on the front. No Battery relocation allowed, no Suspension modifications allowed! We have to put about 300 pounds of Sand on the trunk to get a little more traction...
