I'd invest enough time to break it loose. At three months the rings haven't 'grown' into the cylinder walls yet. If you leave it sitting stuck, you're liable to get pitting.
Soak it in your favorite penetrant. If it truly was only 3 months, is shouldn't be stuck that bad. I'd probably go ahead and pull the head just to make sure I got any water out that was in the cylinder..
