With the cam and carburetion it takes to get 300 hp you would be hugely disappointed with a 2000 stall converter. A 4000 stall is the absolute minimum I would recommend, 5500 will work better. Just for grins try a stock converter (probably around 1600 - 1800 rpm) just before you try a hi-stall. It will really give you religion.
